36. The 9 Causes of Disappointment in the MIR-Method
The MIR-Method is a safe method. It deals with the roots of your problems and does that in harmony with your subconscious and at the speed you can handle. Still, there are people who don’t have good experiences with the MIR-Method: they don’t notice much change, their problems get worse or they become irritated about the method. The nine most common causes of disappointment in the method have been listed below.
1. Your expectations are too high
You started the MIR-Method expecting your problems to disappear within four weeks. You’re greatly disappointed when that doesn’t happen. Realize that your problems are often years old and that your body is dealing layer for layer with what causes them. It needs time. As long as you have symptoms, carry on with the MIR-Method.
2. You give up too quickly
You don’t notice anything in the first two weeks and give up. The MIR-Method isn’t working for you, you think. This can come through the disappointment that nothing seems to be happening with you or through self-sabotage. It is, of course, disappointing when you don’t see any results, but that doesn’t mean that nothing is happening. (See also question 4D of the FAQ’s.)
Self-sabotage plays a role when you don’t really want to restore the contact with yourself. You just can’t seem to spend the 2 times 2 minutes a day to work on your self-healing, because you unconsciously don’t want to change. You could suffer from secondary gain from illness (see the article about this).
3. You change the order of the steps
The MIR-Method looks simple and you think that you understand the system. But….the order of the 9 steps has been thoroughly tested and tried out on clients. It works as intended only when using this order and these exact words. If you change the order, the result can be that the MIR-Method doesn’t work properly or “lopsided”, which makes the MIR-Method less powerful.
4. You leave out steps
You’re making the mistake that some steps aren’t necessary for you. For example, you leave out step 3 “Detach father. Detach mother”, because “I’ve got such a good relationship with my parents that step 3 is not necessary for me”. You forget (or don’t know) that with step 3, “father” symbolizes all the men in your life and “mother” symbolizes all of the women. By leaving out step 3, you also cause incomplete healing at step 1, “Optimize acidity” and step 6, “Balance hormone system” because they are directly related to step 3. Step 7, “Supplement shortages”, and step 8, “Optimize Chakras and Aura” is also directly related to step 3. You can never just leave out a step!
5. You change words
You love language and look at the MIR-Method through linguistic eyes. You think that some words are not correct. You change the 9 steps and ask yourself why the method isn’t working or is giving you new symptoms. The MIR-Method is not a linguistic method but one based on energy. The words used carry energy in them and only sentences thus formulated and tested, work.
For this reason, always check to make sure you are using the original MIR-Method. The original sentences are these:
The 9 steps of the MIR-Method
Step 1. Optimize acidity.
Step 2. Detox all toxicity.
Step 3a. Detach father.
3b. Detach mother.
Step 4. Clear meridians.
Step 5. Supplement all shortages.
Step 6. Balance hormone system.
Step 7. Fulfill basic needs.
Step 8. Optimize Chakras and Aura.
Step 9. Clarify mission.
You do these steps 2 times a day for a minimum of 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, you can continue doing it for as long as you have symptoms.

6. You stopped using medication
You are so enthusiastic about the results that you decide to stop using your medicines without consulting your doctor. All of a sudden, old symptoms return. Grrr! Doing the MIR-Method can have good results, but always stop using medication after consulting with your doctor, after he’s done the necessary tests. Be good to yourself and give your body the time and space to be able to function without medication.
7. You let yourself be coerced into doing the MIR-Method
Someone else thinks the MIR-Method is fantastic and urges you to do it, too. Because you don’t want to disappoint the other person, you do the MIR-Method, but reluctantly. This can result in your not noticing anything or that you actually start having symptoms. It’s also possible that you find the MIR-Method irritating because the other person is gushing about it so much. Enough reasons to not start it in the first place (see point 9). Only do the MIR-Method if it feels good to you and don’t let anyone force it upon you.
8. You don’t go to a doctor or MIR-Method coach
It doesn’t often happen, but it’s possible that by doing the MIR-Method, an infection suddenly becomes noticeable. When this happens, it’s usually in the sinus region. If your body doesn’t take care of the infection on its own and it bothers you a lot, have a doctor look at it. Medical treatment can become necessary to aid you through these problems. Always let your primary care physician or specialist check it out if it becomes severe.
In addition, if you have big doubts, you can always contact a MIR-Method coach. They are trained to use muscle tests to work out in detail where the barriers are. They then work with you to get rid of the barriers immediately.
9. You don’t start
You don’t like the MIR-Method and don’t give it a try. You assume in advance that it’s not going to work, so you don’t even start. A missed chance!
I sincerely hope that all of the above doesn’t apply to you and that you wholeheartedly use the MIR-Method as it was intended.
That it brings you, your family & your friends a lot of good things!
Sincerely yours,
Mireille Mettes

I keep referring to myself by my maiden name, instead of my married name. I am divorced. It’s just a strange thing I noticed. I sort of like it. Any ideas? I’ve been divorced for almost 40 years and this started just happening since I started doing Mir.
Dear lady from Canada,
Is it possible the divorce is only now really pulling through, getting out of your system?
I hope you will want to share more things you notice. To me this looks like a very positive development!
Good luck!
Greetings, Mireille
Hello Mireille, does it matter in which language we say the sentences? My mother tongue is Spanish but I have been speaking English for a long time. I want to do it in Spanish but the way it’s written in your website is not correct. It’s obviously translated from English and it doesn’t sound right in Spanish, there are even spelling errors. Can I fix it so it sounds real? I can also give you my fixed version if you want to correct it in your website. Otherwise I will have to do it in English but I don’t know if it would have the same effect. Thanks!
Dear Cuca,
Could you please send me the correct translation, the way you think it should be spelled?
And the effect will be the same, regardless of the language you choose.
Good luck!

Hi Mireille
I’ve been doing the MIR-Method for 3 weeks now and noticed changes. My blurry eyes are much clearer and my bounderies around people have improved. When I get over emotional I seem to have a lot of sadness stuck in my chest and goes into a panic attack like I’m frightened to let it go .i wonder if I could use the addiction technique at beginning of method to help clear this .I know it’s not an addiction but could I use this as I seem to have a deep sadness stuck down in my body .I love the MIR-Method and thank you for introducing it.
Warmest wishes
Dear Jean,
Yes, you can try it out! Holding on to sadness CAN be a kind of addiction, indeed! And you can also put your hand on your chest and stroke on that hand while doing the 9 steps. This is the extra technique I wrote about in article 120.
Good luck and let me know how you’re doing!
Greetings, Mireille
Hi Mireille,
I posted my comment on the wrong page so here it is again
my husband tried the mir method for big eczema on the chest on both sides of the body and under the arm on the right side of the body and also for allergy in the eyes with a bigger one on the rignt eye, after few days the eczema was worse and started tu hurt him under the arm as it never has done it before. I told him to do the steps 5 and 9 and to put cream on it and he feels better. Is it usual that problems can be worse? My addiction to food is still here after 4 weeks and I don’t eat less on the contrary I got fat! the wart on my daughter’s feet is even bigger it takes all her heal!
thanks for advice!
Best Regards
laurence
Dear Laurence,
Can you please check which steps you are doing? You should be doing only step 5 and 7 in the first two weeks! After that you go to all 9 steps and then you never go back to only step 5 and 7.
Besides that, yes, physicl issues can get worst at first. Please read the frequently asked questions, nr. 4B.
When you start to eat more, the reason is usually that old sadness comes to the surface. When people don’t want to (or can’t) feel the sadness, can start to eat more (sweet) to push down the sadness. Did you check the wart with your doctor? I wonder if it is ‘just’ a wart.
I wish you good luck and hope many things will turn for the better!
Greetings, Mireille
Hi Mireille,
for my husband it’s 5 and 7 and not 9 sorry for the mistake, he feels better he will start the all 9 steps next monday. I asked some help from a psychologist because I eat and hate my self more and more and she told me that the fact of eating no matter what without hunger unless having bellyache wasn’t an addiction but a sort o self-harm because it isn’t a pleasure to eat for me I eat to feel worse and not better.it’s like I don’t allow my self to be happy to be comfortable in my skin. Do you think I could add a sentence like “get rid of self-harm” or something like that? thank you for your patience and again sorry for my writing errors.
Best regards
laurence
Dear Laurence,
What writing errors? Your English is great! Good for you to go to a psychologist. It explains a lot to me. No, you don’t need to add a sentence, because all of the 9 steps work in a way that enhances your self esteem and self love. Could you please look at this video ‘Seeding your self love’ to give you some extra support?
Wish you all the best and good luck!
Mireille Mettes
Thank you very much Mireille.
I watched the video but the problem is that I don’t know what I need …I have to search deeply inside of me!
Best regards
Laurence
Dear Laurence,
Well, then just let the MIR-Method do its work!
Good luck!
Greetings, Mireille Mettes
I was in courage to use your MIR-Method. I actual started the treatment
Octocber 23, 2014 15 days. Old behaviors have surfaced which has cause chronic fatigue, very uncomfortable. Still applying the MIR-Method 2 times a day and allowing my mind and body to process the healing and clarify mission.
Dear Susan,
Thank you for continuing the MIR-Method. Yes, it can take a long time for the healing to show up. And fatigue is quite known as a first reaction of your body. Many healing processes start at the same time and you can really feel that in your tiredness. The best you can do is take as much rest as needed, so you support your body in healing itself. Besides that, please drink enough water (1 to 1 1/2 liters each day).
Good luck! ♥

I have been doing MIR-Method since februari. No results. . I am now nearly 90 kilo. Doctors say i am allowed max 65 kilos for my age and length. I practice buddhist meditation in daily life. I am succesful there. Not with the body. Hoped MIR could help me overcome this hormonal disturbance. In vain.
Dear Isha,
Yes, that must be very disappointing. What you could do, is contact a MIR-Method guide to help you find out why it hasn’t worked so far. Sometimes you need to continu it longer, especially if you had intens negative emotions in your childhood, for example humiliation or rejection.
I wish you all the best and hope you will receive the help you need!
Good luck!
Mireille
