80. When Music is Your Mission
Music does things to you. It touches the strings of your heart. It touches your being, right to the core. Music is the quickest way to your heart. Composers, singers, songwriters, musicians, they are all people who contribute to a finer world in which we can live in harmony and freedom with each other. Making music unites people; it brings them together. Is making music your mission?
Are you more in touch with yourself?
If you do the MIR-Method, you become closer to yourself again. By stroking your hand, you come in contact with yourself. If you do this twice a day for at least four weeks, you come to a more intimate level with yourself; you come into contact again with your deepest desires. And it can be that the old love for music returns. It often happens that people pick up their old love: playing an instrument.
Which instrument have you picked up again?
Is there an instrument laying around in the attic that you haven’t touched for years? Have you been thinking about it more often lately? Taken it out of the box again? Or do you notice that you are playing the piano keys more often again? Do you feel the guitar strings now and then? Or are you dancing again and do you enjoy the music while moving? Enjoying the wonderful compositions of people who made them from their hearts?
Are you using your internal instrument again?
We all have an instrument within us that we can use. Our voice. It often happens with the MIR-Method that an old desire within people becomes freed. The desire to express oneself and to sing. This is the expression of your heart’s desires. People find themselves humming, singing along with the radio or even whistling. We often don’t even realize it! They are all signs that your heart is opening up and your mission is coming alive.
What does the MIR-Method do with to your heart?
The MIR-Method is a self-healing method that works on the whole person. It works on the mental, emotional and energetic levels, but also on your soul and life’s mission. It enables you to come into contact again with your innermost being and your deepest desires. And in the desires, your mission can be found. The mission of making music. If you recognize yourself in this that means that your mission encompasses elements of peacemaking and harmonizing, of bringing people together. A magnificent mission! Look at what these musicians do and be inspired!
What exactly does the MIR-Method do?
It works among other things through Step 3: ‘Detach father. Detach mother’. It’s about the “wise advice” your parents gave you and telling you that you couldn’t do what you wanted to. Artists who were forced to follow a “proper” course of study. Musicians who had to stop playing their instruments. Dancers who had to learn to sit still. Singers who had to be quiet. All the original desires for doing these things slowly come to the surface again. You can’t hold it back!
Step 4: ‘Clear meridians’ helps you to free your meridians. Of course, the heart meridian is the one that helps you to once again feel your original desires. In addition, the lung meridian helps as well. It enables you to perceive your desires again and to do something with them!
Step 7: ‘Fulfill basic needs’ enables you to supplement your need for “Passion”. As a child you could be very driven about something you were doing. You can feel this passion once again.
Step 8: ‘Optimize chakras and aura’ plays an important role here. Your heart chakra increasingly opens, awakening your desires. Your throat chakra becomes free, creating space for your singing voice, and via your crown chakra you feel a greater connection with the inspiring effect of “all that is”, which can make you feel an intense inspiration.
Step 9: ‘Clarify mission’ is the most important step for you when music begins to play a role in your life again. There is a big chance that your subconscious strongly wants to do more with music, song or dance. People who give in to this and allow it to become a part of their lives become visibly refreshed.
Not so musical?
If you never enjoyed singing or playing an instrument, music can still do something to you. Pay attention to the songs or music that you like to listen to and become aware of what they do to you. Are they calming or do they bring intensity to you? And moreover, what do the musician’s words mean to you? Often, songs have meaning, a message. If you recently find yourself often listening to the same song, listen extra well to what’s being sung. Maybe there’s a clue in there for you!
Question for you: what role does making music play in your life? Has it returned because of the MIR-Method? I’d love to hear about it. Write your answer below. Thank you!
Personal questions should always be asked of a MIR-Method coach!
My wish for you is that you can live out your musical mission!
That we may all become closer to one another!

I am an ex-music teacher. Ex-musician. I went through years of anhedonia.. Among other things I couldn’t bear to listen to music. After much profound healing work, I can recently listen to music again.
As a child I slept with my toy music box instead of my teddy. I loved music so so much. As an adult I went on a long journey of learning music without any support, despite an endless path of terrible teachers, I got to a good level. But the whole journey itself was traumatising. The world of music is full of very narcissistic people. If you are not very healed and aligned and supported, you’ll be at their mercy. I have very mixed feelings about music. It’s often used by performers in ways that are not very high vibrational or magnanimous.
Yet I’d love to feel the joy it used to give me. I’d love to play again without people interfering with me, competing with me, ruining my joy..
Have been doing the MIR method for about 2 months. Tomorrow I am playing my first open mic in many years and have been so fearful and nervous about it. This post could not have come along at a better time. And the video is incredibly inspiring, made me cry! So many thanks for sharing this healing modality with the world! Many blessings to you!
In this day and era of technology and global economies we need to educate our children in ALL areas, especially creative expression in a positive way! Yet, unbelievably the first thing cut in a school curriculum are the arts, music being the first. However, if ‘those who cut curriculums’ studied true brain development would find music is brain compatible and helps with math skills, logic, and physical development. I commend you and your article about music, and how magnificent Emilie’s letter about music is—harmony in positive thinking is what I see here, oh, yes, a coincidence, but divine in nature! MIR-Method changes the world one life at a time. Thank you.
Dear Nancy,
Thank you for your response! Goose bumps! It is SO true: music develops the brain in a GREAT way. Recently we could read scientific studies that prove it finally. No doubt about that. When they cut the creative classes in our school, we took our children out and put them on a school with lots of movement, creativity, singing and music. They are thriving. Wish there would be many more schools like that.
Thank you for your passionate respons and the encouragement you give me too!

I sing wherever I go and I travel a lot, both for my Faith, I am a Baha’i, and I do housesitting for people, so I have had the opportunity to sing with many different choirs. So many incredible moments that I would never have dreamed of, like travelling to Ethiopia to sing, singing at Carnigie Hall, New York, and at the Choral Festival at the Baha’i House of Worship, Chicago.
Dear Sheila,
Thank you for living such a wonderful mission. No doubt, you have brought lots of healing to all of these people. Thank you!
With love,

Wow… This text is just incredible…
I started MIR method 1 week ago (thanks to the Magazine Happinez).
Until 2013, i was a music teacher and a flute player.
Since 2013, I’m working for a theater company, as the productions organizer.
And I always dreamed to work for humanitarian.
Since few weeks, I’m quite lost about my life, my soul mission. I feel that my current job is not the good one. And that the past one wasn’t too.
So, since i’m using the MIR-Method, finding my mission is my main purpose. And yesterday, before sleeping, I ask again about it.
And this morning, I received your newsletter… About Music Mission…
My other big life dream is to become a conductor… (actually I’m conductor right now, for amateur wind orchestras). And to work with “Playing for change” organization…
And you are here…
So, ok… I’ll send them my curriculum, and write them again…
Incredible… Definitely incredible…!!!
THANK YOU!!!!
Dear Emilie,
How wonderful! Yes, please send them your curriculum! Join in and support them with what you know. Or start your own project. Anything is possible. How amazing and coincidental that your question was in this article. Lovely! The flute is my instrument too, by the way.
Please keep on playing and conducting and bringing the wonder of peace through music to the world. Thank you for all that you do!
Greetings, Mireille Mettes
