12. Fear, What a Weird Emotion!
One of the most often heard results of the MIR-Method is that people feel less anxiety and have more self-confidence! We have even already heard that phobias disappeared: fear of spiders, fear of heights and agoraphobia (fear of open spaces and/or public places).
Fear and anxiety are actually weird emotions, because they are often based on something that is not real! Something that doesn’t really form a threat! If you were in a cage with a lion, fear would be appropriate, but the strange thing is that people are often afraid of things that don’t exist!
Fear of having an accident, fear of not having enough money. They are afraid of an angry reaction, of making mistakes, of rejection by their neighbors or speaking in front of a group of people. Those are all fears for which there is no certainty that they are even going to take place! We all act as though we were the fortunetellers of doomsday scenarios. As if we already know what is going to happen, and that is complete nonsense!
Why, then, do we have this fear?
Why are people so often afraid, then? That is the big question! One of the answers is that fear is an emotion of our inner child. The child doesn’t feel strong enough and wants to be protected. It creates fear in anticipation of an event to prevent you from taking a step towards the neighbors, or towards a group of people. It’s based on experiences you had as a child.
Look back for a moment:
• How were you treated at school when you made a mistake?
• What happened at home if you accidentally broke something?
• How did your peers treat you? Were you laughed at?
These are just a few of the memories required to feel fear as an adult. To get rid of these memories, follow the 9 steps of the MIR-Method. In each of the steps there are elements to help you “cleanse” yourself. You slowly but surely purge the negativity of your youth from yourself. You let go of toxic invectives, and the rejection of your parents, teachers or peers. It can all flow away and give room to feelings of self-love.
Winning back love for yourself
Love for yourself is the most important thing! No one has the right to make you feel small. This, however, has happened to just about everyone and still happens daily to many children. By following the MIR-Method you can win back love for yourself. You will see that you are allowed to make mistakes, to take risks, that you needn’t be afraid of tomorrow or for the reactions of other people.
You aren’t the small, hurt child anymore, but you will become mature inside and discover that you can think of a solution for every situation, or ask for help. You will discover that you are worth it and that you are not alone! Welcome, dear inner adult!
Question for you: What new steps have you taken since you started using the MIR-Method? What doesn’t hinder you anymore? Post it below to stimulate others to take a step as well!
I wish you much happiness and adult courage!
Hearty greetings,

Hi Mireille,
Can you recommend a coach? I live in the US and the person recommended said they are busy at this time and maybe to look for someone in any country that has more time. Can you suggest someone great?
Thanks!
Dear Carolyn,
You can choose any of the coaches that are on the coaches page. They are all fluent in English.
Greetings, Mireille
Well I don’t know if I feel better because of the MIR method as I am using a lot of tools and the MIR-Method is my new one. I use once or twice a day and I have been doing it for 2 weeks. I usually do it just after my morning meditation as I am quite relaxed. I yawn a lot. I have the feeling I have more energy. I have had a liver problem for 7 months now and just started to have arthritis in one of my finger joint. It has swelled and it is warm there. So I hope the conjunction of EFT, Logosynthesis, MIR-Method, meditation will calm all this down as well as give me more energy.
It is the yawning that gives me a hint this might do something!
Thank you for sharing.
Dear Caroline,
Hopefully your health will come back to you and you will feel great again!
Wish you a lot of luck!
Greetings! Mireille Mettes
