129. Do You Feel the Need to Eat More Fats?
The eating habits of people who do the MIR-Method vary their eating habits. They desire sweet less and salt more. They feel the need for sweet at moments, and don’t touch salt. Sometimes they eat a lot fruit, and then there are periods without it. The eating pattern of someone doing the MIR-Method can be very variable. And that’s as it should be!
Natural seasons
In nature, usually not everything is available at the same time. In the summer months and towards autumn, there is a lot of fruit, but in the winter months it’s unavailable. Thankfully, people are creative and they are able to can fruit or process it into jam so fruit can also be eaten in the winter. In the summer, light greens, easily digestible, are available while in the winter darker vegetables are more often eaten. In the summer there is often less call for fat and in the winter there is a much stronger need for it to keep warm! If you do the MIR-Method, you see your body functioning more in tune with the seasons. More fruit in the summer and more fat in the winter.
Fat is good for you!
The last few decades there has been a smear campaign against fats. They were said to be the cause of weight gain. In the meantime, it has become clear that it’s actually sugars, especially fructose, that are the greatest cause of weight gain. And that people don’t become overweight from food but from what they drink, sodas!
If you have a stronger need for fat by doing the MIR-Method, allow your body to enjoy it! You need fats to keep your joints well lubricated, such as from oils. Your skin becomes wonderfully soft and glowing if you eat enough fats and wrinkles become less deep. Dry skin becomes less dry when you eat enough fats. And your brain functions better as well!
Healthy fats
There are healthy and unhealthy fats, and most people now know which are good and which aren’t. Take creamy butter, olive oil, nuts, avocados, eggs, meat, and fatty fish such as mackerel or salmon. You can read about this in books and on the Internet and I think there are also MIRrors who can add to this below (feel free to!). The MIR-Method helps you with this. If you can follow what your body really needs, your health will improve dramatically.
MIR-Method and eating fats
Emotionally balanced people can eat according to their needs. What you need for this is trust in your own body, that it will indicate what it needs. Even young children’s bodies can indicate this. Steps 5 and 7 of the MIR-Method play the main role. The more that step 7 is as it should be, the better step 5 can do its job. I’ll explain it a bit more.
Step 5 ‘Supplement all shortages’ helps you to feel exactly what your body needs. Is that fats? Then you will feel the need for fatty foods. If you eat extra fats for a few days, you’ll see that your need for them lessens after a few days.
Step 7 ‘Fulfill basic needs’ helps you let go of eating for comfort. If your needs for comfort, security and protection are fulfilled, this will have a direct effect on your eating habits. As long as you still have a need for comfort, you’ll be inclined to snack or eat too many sweets. Take a look at what you are used to eating and see if they are healthy foods.
And how about you? Do you also have a stronger need for fats by doing the MIR-Method? Please, tell me about it below. Thank you!
You should always ask a MIR-Method coach about personal questions!
May you feel trust in your dietary needs!

Hi, I have been practicing Naet (for a year) and now MIR for almost 10 days for my allergies…running nose.
My nose seems better and skin does too. And sleeps awesome…but getting inflammation and pain on my right knee from last 2 days…i have had pain earlier too but this seems a bit more erratic.
I have been doing yoga regularly as well.
Pls advise.
Dear Nidhi,
Not to worry. Your body is going through a healing process. What you can do, is put your hand on your knee and do the MIR-Method on your knee. Give your body some time to heal.
Besides that, knee pain often is a sign that you need to make steps in your life. Please investigate what steps you are not taking! Usually you don’t need to know, but can let your body unfold the steps. Observe yourself and your changes in life in the coming weeks.

I have been doing the MIR method for over a month, I am diabetic and also have
high eye pressure. I hope by doing the MIR method I will get rid of or lower my diabetes or eye pressure, any suggestions? So far no results!
Dear Roya,
The reason you’re doing the MIR-Method are quite complicated. Please allow your body to have time to deal with all the causes. It may take at least 4 months. Just keep on doing and try to keep track of the small things that start to change. Write down all the minor complaints that you also experience. It helps you to stay motivated. Besides that, I have a hunch, but not enough evidence yet, that diabetes has to do with loss of love, in any way. And… please read all about fructose and high fructose corn syrup! For example at a lecture of professor Lustig. Or the interview about ‘The bittersweet truth that sugar film’. Just typ this in at youtube.
Good luck!

When I first started doing MIR method two summers ago I lost all desire for sweet and craved citric. For about the last six months have been craving chilli…never have done before…and also favour salmón and mackerel now as opposed to white fish 🙂
Dear Charles,
Well, looks like your body is showing you what to eat! Fatty fish are great! Just keep following your appetite! 🙂

I can strongly suggest to eat what the season in your neighborhood provides. Global economy has changed our eating habits so much, everything is constantly available but that is not natural. Know that our brain is mostly fat and we do need fats especially fat from nuts which are naturally easy to preserve without adding chemicals. Processrd foods have a lot of additives which are to be avoided if one wants to detox.
